Default Re: M1330 laptop's nVidia chip overheating?

I might have the same problem with my 1330. it works fine for the
first five or 6 hrs. then slows down a lot. I called tech support and
complained two weeks ago, the tech said it was my start up programs
and he deleted them all and said it would work fine now but when I
start it in the moorings it works fine till the afternoon and the cpu
stays at 100%. and after 2 more hours I can't even open my browser. I
complained today and the guy said if your room is warm maybe you
should buy a cooling system underneath. he said heat problem would
shut down the computer or restart.
I have 3 yrs. next day warranty and that is his solution.
he then asked me to do this short test which he said it is for only 10
minutes and it ran for over 40 minutes and still at zero percent.
I installed this i8kfangui31.exe you talked about. it shows the cpu
temp at 159 F steady. is it a reliable test or the right temp.?
Is there a way to test if the nVidia chip or the fan for heat?
they replaced my nVidia chip few months ago when the whole screen
gone.

My normal reading on my laptop E1405 is around 104 to 116. I notice
when my antivirus kicks in, it goes as high as 164 but somewhere
around 145 or 150, the fan kicks in and then it cools down pretty
fast, especially when the scanning is done. To me 159 steady sounds
too high. Is your vents clean? You can try to use compressed air and
spray around the fan and vents to be sure. Maybe try a fan to
circulate air near your 1330. Do you have the same number or almost
the same # of processes running the first hour vs. the sixth hour? Or
do you have something running a constant scan at some point?

I heard the fan working right after I installed this nice program
i8kfangui31. hte computer started today with cpu tem at129f and
chipset temp at 150 f. Maybe the fan was not working as it should and
it is fine now being controlled by this beautiful i8kfangui31.
I am watching the temps today and see what happens.
