gx520 question

I have a optiplex gx520 small factor. A BTX motherboard with pentium 4
with HT. with 1 gig ram. I visited Dells website and noticed that I
can only put in 160 gig HDD. I want to know what happens if I install
a 300-400 gig HDD with Vista Ultimate. Will it slow down? Will I have
problems?
