I upgraded my Dell Support software - a message from Dell said I had
to.
Ever since I get an error message when I start my computer that
sprtcmd.exe and sprtsvc.exe are high risk programs. The message is
from Norton Internet Security. It recommends I stop these programs
from running.
Bottom line - do I need them to run? Personally I don't think I need
the Dell Support Software but then again I don't know what it does
behind the scenes.
What surprised me was I unchecked all the Dell Support stuff from my
Startup window and both of these scripts still tried to start. I had
to rename the files.
Are these scripts vital? Should I allow them to run?
1) You don't have to run it. It is helpful but not necessary
2) It has to phone home to know if there is anything new
Either setup Norton to allow it or uninstall support center.
Or ditch Norton. Terrible product.
