I would like to get a new larger hard drive for my Dimension 4600. Any
advice on which brand to get? I don't want to spend a lot for it -
around $125 or less. TIA!
I prefer Seagate (long warranty) and Western Digital.
If I recall, your 4600 is unique in that it can accept either EIDE or
SATA hard drives (someone correct me).
Personally, I'd buy what is on sale this weekend. Should be able to get
a 320GB or so.

Yes,
You can either put in IDE or SATA drives in it. You will need to go in to
the BIOS and set it to Auto detect them after you install it. Also you will
need to format the drive before windows will "properly" recognize it.

Anything but Maxtor.
