I've never purchased any Dell hardware during the holidays so I'm not
very familiar with their promotions. Is it likely Dell will have any price
specials for their UltraSharp monitors this holiday season?

Yep. But to be honest ( I get email promotions from them ), it appears to me
that their pricing is less aggressive of late on most things - including
monitors.
It may depend on specifically which model you're hoping to buy.

If memory serves me correct, last year Dell had good prices in October
but in November forward the pricing wasn't as good. But I'm not sure
if this will repeat itself, likely market conditions will dictate
this. Sure would be nice to have the inside word <g>.

I was checking out the pricing on various products at the Dell kiosk at
the local mall.
To my surprise, their prices were better than I could find on the Dell
website, even with a company discount.

I have my eye on the 2007WFP monitor, but the $400 price tag is hard
for me to swallow. I keep looking for an e-value code, but cannot find one.
I recently got a Dell catalogue in the mail, but the 2007WFP isn't even
mentioned. And the only codes listed were for computer systems, not
monitors. I also visited my local Dell kiosk, but they didn't have a
e-value code for the 2007WFP either. So, I keep hoping Dell will get into
the Holiday spirit and lower the prices for a brief time.

If you aren't aware of this site, you might also peek monitors here for
weekly promotions and changes (prices used to be updated on each Thursday or
Friday):

Consider the 24" wide screen. It's a little more but IMO
significantly changes the "computing experience". I've had the 20"
wide screen and 24" and the 24" is much better.
If cost is a concern, Dell also has a 22" wide screen. It has the
same resolution as the 20". I found the 22" to be brighter, and
better overall. The down sides are that you can't change it to
portrait and you don't have as many inputs. That's why it costs less.

What about the term UltraSharp? I always thought those monitors had
slightly better video and hardware quality than the rest of the Dell
monitors.

I just checked the specs of the Dell 22" monitor. No USB ports, which
is a big drawback for me. I use the USB ports on my 1907FP for my keyboard
and printer. And I occasionally use the other two USB ports to plug in
flash drives. The 22" monitor also isn't height adjustable. Finally, it
isn't compatible with my Dell Soundbar. The one I'm using now is for
UltraSharp monitors only.

Yes -- that's why it costs less, but the video quality (subjectively)
IMO is better than the 20" wide screen's.
Sounds like you need the USB so the 22" isn't the best choice for you.
