Default Chipset Drivers

Just wondering, are chipset drivers firmware or software? Do they reside
on the chips themselves, or on the hard drive?

Chipsets are hardware while chipset drivers are software and resides on
the hard drive. On another note, the BIOS is often called firmware. ;-)
