Have a new C521 that freezes on boot while the BIOS is initializing if I
attach my Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000. If I disconnect the camera the C521
boots just fine.
Indicator lights 2,3 and 4 are lit when the system freezes indicating a USB
failure.
I am running Windows XP SP2 and have the latest BIOS installed (1.1.5).
Anyone out there know if this is a normal C521 problem or do I have a
defective unit?

I'd be inclined to check the Logitech support site for knowledge base
information and the latest software drivers.
What happens if - with the camera plugged in - you do a warm reboot from the
Windows desktop? Does it still hang?
Do you have any alternative USB ports that you could try? (back of the
system, LCD monitor, printer, USB hub, etc)
I'd also be reluctant to change the system BIOS version again for most any
reason (based on some previous posts in this ng).
I don't think it's a driver issue as the computer will not boot to Windows
with the camera attached. The BIOS progress bar freezes half way through
the boot process and I get error lights 2,3 and 4 lit.
Something I failed to mention in my original post was that after Windows
boots I can plug the camera in and it works fine.
I did try the other ports with identical results.
A Google search for this problem shows that the C521 is natorious for USB
problems.

Right. And you cannot reboot from Windows with it plugged. Correct?
Robert,
I had an issue with a USB mouse on my Dim4600 w/SP2, if I moved the mouse's
USB connector, to another slot and reboot it would not load Windows. What I
had to do was go into the Device Manager, and remove the USB Root line,
associated with the mouse. Then shut down PC, move the mouse USB connector
to the slot I wanted. Then reboot the PC, and let Windows XP reassociate the
drivers for the moved USB mouse.
In my opinion the "Plug and Play" feature is different for USB devices, in
Win98 & WinXP.
