Default AV/Firewall for new Vista Machine query

My friend just bought a new laptop.

I am only familiar with XP.

I know for XP, I always suggest d/l and installing AVG and ZoneAlarm (the
free versions). I've been very pleased with those programs (along with
Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy).

I would like to suggest my friend do the same thing instead of using the
s-ware that came with his computer.

So, would this also be good advice for a Vista machine (does AVG and
Zonealarm work with Vista?)

Mel

And a quick follow-up question.
Instead of using office, I use the free openoffice.org package.

Does anyone know if this can be used with Vista.

Hi!

AVG and OpenOffice work just fine on Vista. I'm using them on a
homebrew box running Vista Business.

Zone Alarm Free Edition is available for Vista. Their Zone Alarm Pro
product DOES NOT currently run under vista.
