Default All-In-One Printer with Vista?

I have Vista Ultimate 32-bit and a Dell AIO Photo 964.
I can't fax from the computer although I can use the
printer's front panel to send a fax. Scanning, printing
and copying work fine but the Dell AIO Fax printer just
refuses to show up in the list of printers. This seems to
be a known problem.

Does anyone have a fix for the 964 or, if not, I'm thinking
of buying the 968. Does anyone here have an AIO Photo 968
running with Vista that can actually use the full capability
of the printer ?

TIA

are you using the latest dell 964 driver for vista (the v.g11a, a02,
released 1/26/07)?

the 964 should not have any problems with vista.
the 926 is on sale today only for $59 with free shipping, but it does not
have the sheet feeder and reviews are not too favorable...

Yes, but it's not the printer driver itself that has the problem.
As I said, printing, scanning and copying all work fine.
When installed under XP, there's a FAX printer installed and
you can send documents to that and they go through the 964's
FAX modem. The updated printer driver doesn't have that FAX
driver. The Dell forum has many messages about it. Since the
968's drivers are later, I'd hoped they would actually install the
FAX driver in Vista.

I have seen good reviews about SnappyFax. I downloaded it for the
trial period and it worked fine with Vista Home , lots of features.
Then I upgraded to XP and did not need it.

I have the Ultimate version so I do have the FAX software installed and
I can use my internal modem to send one but I'd like to free up that slot in
my PC and send Faxes using the printer's modem.
