Default Adding sata to old Dell 8250

Anyone know if there is a PCI sata adapter that I could add to this system?
Ideally should have drivers (if needed) for WIN 2003 server. In a perfect
world would like to be able to boot from the sata drives - i.e. get rid of
the pata drives altogether!

Thanks all :-)

I installed into a Dell Dimention 4600 a Highpoint RocketRaid 1640 and yes,
I do boot from it. The controller can handle up to 4 SATA Drives with Raid
0, 1, 5 and JBOD.

Lots of these available. The catch is you have to press f6 at install
time to install the drivers from a floppy disk.

Some are better than others, which doesn't matter much for home use,
but as your OS is 2003 server, i think you might do well to get a
better unit.

You might ask in some of the various server and networking groups for
recommendations.

Thanks for both those answers :-)

WRT Win 2003 server - actually running Microsoft home server (beta) (MSHS) -
just want to upgrade to a sata based system on the old 8250. MSHS is
essentially a version of Win 2003 server and has cross compatibility.

EEP, you said the 'B' word. (beta) In which case pick the most
popular brand on the theory that working drivers are more likely to
exist for it. Unless someone can point to a model that is known to
play nice.

(Promise is one of the most popular brands for these beasties, but
they're not real server-class hardware)

I would also ask HERE, for better advice on what sata controllers are
known to play nice with the beta in it's present state.

SIIG makes a 4-port SATA PCI controller card that runs under
Server 2003 (among others):
http://siig.com/product.asp?catid=7&pid=465
and a 2-port SATA II PCI controller card that also runs under Server 2003:

Promise Technology makes a 4-port SATA PCI controller card that
is also compatible with Server 2003 according to its datasheet:
