That's exactly what I did -- purchased the 24" just to be safe.
The cable came in today. I installed it and I have the second drive
running with no major problems.
But I am getting a message each time the system boots. It's something
to the effect of "Raid Volume: None, Physical Disks (and then both
drives are shown) with a message to "press ctrl+I to executive config
utility." I hit CTRL+I but nothing happens. The system boots into
Windows after a minute or so.
How do I get rid of this message? I tried resetting the bios, but it's
still appearing.
That's normal. You don't want to get rid of it. It is a message from
the RAID controller telling you how to get into the RAID bios if you
choose to define an array (CTRL+I). You don't, so it will skip right
past that and boot. I get the same message on my XPS410.

The message is normal - part of the normal post routine. Ignore it.

I think SVC is a great place to order cables, hardware parts, and
similar items from. The items are priced right, shipping is
inexpensive, and the items arrive quickly. It sounds like you had a
good experience with them too.
