While extending the warranty on my Dimension 8400, via Dell
Extended Service Division, I asked if parts received in the
future from the Dell store (such as hard drive and ram) and
installed in the 8400 are covered by the warranty. The
salesperson assured me they are. I've found nothing at
dell.com that confirms this. Anybody know whether the
salesperson's statement is accurate?

I'll do you one better. I've had Dell service people install parts that
I've bought from Dell. That's how I got my new Radeon graphics card
installed since they were out here on another call for my computer and when
we figured out what the problem was I suggested that instead of installing
the card they came out with, they install the one I received from Dell 4
days earlier.
Then I extended my warranty for another year.
