I don't keep track. Just plug in what's handy. Bigger ones work in
place of smaller ones. Smaller ones give a warning on machines that
require larger ones, but still work (slowly)

For the best performance, using the right adapter with the right
laptop is recommended.
Using whatever laptop adapter is handy can certainly work. The voltage
should be pretty close--within one to three volts either way. Polarity
*must* be exact--incorrect polarity just about invariably lets the
smoke out. The output wattage should be close to what the machine
needs. If the adapter can't supply enough power, it will start to
overheat and may fail violently. An adapter that supplies more wattage
shouldn't hurt anything.
