Default 600m video problem

For quite a while my 600m has had a problem with the video output on the LCD
panel. The external VGA output on a separate monitor is normal. I have
replaced the LCD panel with no change in the resultant display. The
computer works fine for normal stuff, but any video processes , such as
photos or DVDs, the computer is unuseable.

The problem seems to be offset of one color, one or two places to the right,
so I get strange vertical lines in different areas depending on the
background color. For example, in the scroll bar on the right of a window,
I have red vertical lines running down the entire bar. If I move the window
right or left, one or more of the vertical lines will disappear and then
come back if I move it ****her.

I would guess this might be some type of timing problem, or since the video
memory is shared, perhaps a memory problem. This board has the Mobility
Radeon 9000 chipset, so I am assuming it will probably take a motherboard
replacement to fix this, but considering the age of the computer and the
cost of a new board, it might not be worth it.

If anyone has any ideas where the problem might lie, please advise.

Thanks,
Clark
