Has anyone ever had a button key cap fall off his dell flat panel
monitor? this is on a 19inch analog. the small round silver power button.
with the keycap missing, the monitor does not turn off. so i'm hoping
the power doesnt go out, because i probably wont be able to turn it on.
are these available somewhere, and could be shipped to me, or does the
whole monitor need to go back for service?
its covered by warranty so that's not the problem, just dont have time
to deal with calling dell now.
do they just go with the serial number off the back, or the system it
was shipped with. i've had so much stuff come thru here that i'm not
quite sure with which system it originated.
I suppose I could call Dell, but before i spend that time, just wanted
to get the heads up...

Not aware of any place for replacement parts for that problem.
Generally, to get warranty service they usually ask for a service tag, but
then need (what used to be) the 12-digit monitor serial number for service.
Not sure how they handle monitors purchased separately/independently.
Probably via the serial number.

I once had to send a crt monitor back but they sent me the replacement
before I sent the old one in. They supplied the packing and I think
all I had to do was fill in the express code / service tag. I admit
tho this was about 5 or 6 years ago so things may have changed since??
The nice thing was that my warrantee was due in about 1 from the time
of claim but that was not a problem at the time to settle the ordeal.
Dell was pretty good about the warrantee with no hassle at that time.

My bad.... I meant to say the warrantee was due in "1 month" from the
time of the claim. Sorry.
Re: 19 inch flat panel with missing button key cap
Mine hasn't completely fallen off but it's just dangling there.
I am very careful with it whenever I turn it off or on.
Looks like it's a general problem.
Mine is about 5 years old though so when it goes, I goes shopping! LOL

Re: 19 inch flat panel with missing button key cap
I've never turned mine off. Standby uses very little power. Leave it on
24/7.

Re: 19 inch flat panel with missing button key cap
Yes I usually do just that but there are times when I do need to turn it off
completely.
