What do I need to Setup a Multiple Monitor Display & Trading Computer?
I would like to setup three or four monitors on my computer. I want the screens to have individual properties but also be connected in a panoramic fashion. Can I add more video cards or should I get a ready made unit that supports several monitors? If so, where's a good place to look for one?
You can do either.
It depends on your current system if your motherboard is up to the task of running two video cards and if your current video card is good enough to handle two monitors.
To set up 4 monitors you need the following.
A motherboard with Cross-Fire and/or SLI support.
2 video card (safest option is to use 2 video cards of the same brand and modell.)
So either you check your current motherboard if it has SLI or Cross-Fire support and get another video card.
Or you aim for a computer with these specs.
Finding a pre-built computer with these specs can be a bit difficult depending on what you are going to use it for.
Gaming systems with SLI video cards has gotten more and more common but are still a bit overpriced and usually sold with average performance video cards.
If you're going more specific as in aiming for a system built video editing and such the price will go higher quite quickly.
It's cheaper to buy a motherboard and 2 video cards than a new computer with these specs. But it's also more work on your part.
you might find this helpfull, at the least it may give you some ideas

Still trying to work out some bugs, but I am running twin BENQ 24" monitors, and can run up to 4 at once which I plan to be doing very soon.
Twin video cards ATI Radeon HD 4870,s to be exact, each with their own gig of on board mem., and I am also usuing cross fire technoligy as well. Works awsome, but I am having some issues with games as a result of the 64 bit system. I am seeking help for that, and am looking for patches.
