Default PSU Upgrade

As i've always said, I'm not a hardware guy

Can anyone tell me what I need to know before buying an upgrade for my power supply?
Ultra Products - X-Finity™ 500 Watt PSU - Black
This says that it's compatible with Intel mobos, which is what I've got... but I'm still uncertain...

Intel cpu chips require an extra 4 pin 12V mobo plug.... some power supplies only has the single 20 pin plug for AMD cpu's, I am pretty sure this is what it refers to when it states Intel compatible.

This might help to explain Power supplies and heres a little dinky power supply calculator if you are concerned about the Wattage Power Supply Calculator

It always pays to use a higher Wattage, although the full Wattage isn't being used it offers some leeway since it's not running at it's full power and will run cooler, the power that is used is that drawn by the mobo itself and not the extra power of the power supply.
