Default New build just not working!! Help needed :)

Just put together a new PC and it freezes. Setup is as follows:

Mobo: P55M-UD4
CPU: I7 860
Ram:
Corsair XMS3 1600Mhz 4GB
Hard Drives: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm and Samsung F1 Spinpoint 750GB
Disc Drives: Sony BD drive and Sony DVD+-RW drive
Case: Lian Li v350 or v351 (depends on which site you look at)
PSU: A cheapish 700 watt EZCOOL (skimped a bit and its probably whats broken)
Graphics card: XFX HD4870 1GB

Bios works fine and shows all components okay. Run memtest and check both hard drives using my Ultimate Boot CD (full length tests). No errors. The computer usually freezes when installing vista. Was able to install XP but once i was into it it kept freezing. No set times. Just random freezes. Usually within 10 mins of it loading but sometimes longer. I was then able to instal Vista Ultimate 64bit. Same thing again freezes a few minutes in.

I have ruled out it being the Memory and the hard drives and the computer is stable in BIOS. Its only when I go into my OS (windows) it freezes. I dont have spare compents so cant swap out the PSU, CPU or MOBO. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Default FWIW, if it were me...

I would first try to get the system stable by clearing the CMOS. Then, check power leads to the CPU and chipset fans.

Then, disconnect the BD drive, verify the DVD is not set to slave, and attempt a new install.

I would also verify with Gigabyte that the board was validated with that specific RAM, and if the BIOS needs updated.

When the next freeze-up is due, verify the chipset and CPU are not overheating.

Are you using CPUID or another reporting app?

Default

I have cleared the CMOS and still freezes. I have tried using one disc drive at a time and no difference. I will contact gigabyte this afternoon regarding the RAM. A few other things to mention when it freezes the HDD light just stops. I only have a four pin plugged into an 8 pin CPU mobo connector and every connection on my PSU has been used. I have run the case open and there was no probs with temp. CPU running no higher than 40 and system temp no higher than 38 (though with case closed its actually running a system temp of 50). There is no sudden temperature rises when the PC freezes.

Thanks for the response
