I think its time for me to turn in the 3.0 GHz Pentium 4 w/ HT for a new Core 2 Duo CPU. But on this new build of mine, that I am planning to do, I want to do everything right, so that I can get the most performance for my money. I want to get a new motherboard, obviously a Core 2 Duo CPU (probably around 2.66 GHz) and some new RAM. I guess Im just looking for someone to tell me what has to add up to "x", meaning, for a 2.66 GHz CPU with 1333Mhz FSB, is there a specific RAM speed that would work perfectly with the CPU (not wasting any of the CPU's performance, while not making the CPU wait for the RAM). Ya get what I mean? Im looking for a trifecta.... a motherboard, cpu, and RAM, that go together and compliment each other almost perfectly, without wasting money on excess speed that will be wasted.
Im gonna be putting in a Radeon X1600 and 3 Internal HD's and need plenty of USB 2.0 ports.
are you stuck on intel? or would you be willing to look at an amd? if so i have a perfect setup for an amd x2 6000+ dual 3.0ghz cpu matched with the asus m2n 32 sli deluxe mobo corsair xms2 ddr2 pc6400 2gb min i run 4gb for vista evga 8800gts 640 acs3 edition video card all of this works very well and multi tasks in everything i do. pc is smoking fast and i run vista. and do alot of gaming/dvd burning ect. hope this helps
