Default HP wireless keyboard & mouse not working

My wireless keyboard and mouse that came with this computer package (HP Pavilion media center TV M8120n) don't seem to work. They worked for one day then both stopped working. Batteries are fine. Transmitter has been moved to all USB ports to no avail. The system check says both are functioning but they aren't. The light on the transmitter is on so I assume there is a signal. Any ideas? thanks in Advance

PS have also asked this question on the HP website forum with no idea/help from anyone.

Is there a button to change channels (or can you do it trough software)? A there any other RF sources like wireless router or cordless phone? Try switching them off.
