Exclamation Help~Hard Drive Not Found

My girlfriend has a 4 year old Dell Desktop. A few days ago we she turned the computer on it went to a dark blue screen. We rebooted and now the computer cannot locate the hard drive.

I tried to boot from the Windows CD and it gave me a c000022/Unknown Harderror\systemroot\system32\ntdl.dll message.

We tried to boot to read the hard drive from another pc and it could not find it.

Is this a crash? and if so, is there anyway to retrieve any of the files on the hard drive?

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you getting the bios bleep or POST (Power On Self Test)? If you are not sure try rebooting and immediately start tapping F8 every couple of seconds until the screen comes up.... to get out of bios set up simply reboot.

The hard drive should run in another 'good' computer... even if the mobo drivers are not right so this seems to cast an evil eye on the drive itself.
