computer wont boot xp with video drivers installed
i just refomated my 4 year old computer with win xp i have an elitegroup 755-A2 motherboard with a AMD 64-bit prosseser and a nvidia geforce fx 5600xt video card after i reformated i started loading my drivers and after i loaded my video drivers i restarted my computer and it started to load up just fine but after the xp loading screen my moniter went black and after about a min it said there was no signal in then my computer restarts it self and unless i go into safe mode (which im in now) and uninstall the dirvers for it i cant boot up normal, i can install the drivers and us it in normal mode untill i turn off the computer but then i have to go back to safe mode to uninstall and then reboot to normal and reinstall again and i dont want to have to do this everytime to use my computer so plz help it you can
What was the reason for reformatting and was the computer running OK prior to doing this? The reason I ask is to be sure we are not concealing any clue or faults.
Obviously the computer must have been working fine with the set up at some stage, so the only thing that has changed is the format and not the drivers etc.
Providing the reformat was innocent we could be looking at a conflict, faulty hard drive or a bad disc(s) maybe be due to a scratch etc. It really is too hard to blame the Graphic card if the reason for a reformat was innocent and not due to any faults.
Sod's law can strike at any time though... I'll mention a Episode I had with one of my computers, which may throw some light-:
The screen would go black for a split second and sometimes it would lock up
.... only whenever I was doing something much needed like typing an urgent text document in MS Word, if it was a necessary job it would never do it.
Clearing the bios put matters right for a couple of days, then it would do it again, after doing the things you do like prodding about refitting this and that I fitted a new power supply, "Wow, I fix it", four day's or so later the problem returned, by now there was a definite fault a clanging hard drive which sometimes loaded properly or never.
In went a new hard drive and that was that and it worked perfectly even with the old power supply. I wouldn't have guess it was the hard drive until it started to sound like the garbage collectors van...!
Scanning for bad sectors 'may be' another idea, this can be done in C drive Properties,Tools tab and then opening the 'Check Now' pane, ticking the two little boxes, click Start, ok and reboot.... note Scanning for bad segments will take a lengthy period.
Being four years old I would be tempted to change the bios battery as it will have passed it's best, removing this will require a complete bios set up, there is usually a 'quick set' button what will select a optimum setting. I doubt this is the fault though.
the reson why i reformated was just to clear everything i had a lot of junk on here i didnt need anymore and it had be a long time sence i reformated but i did have problems befor that. i keep getting the blue screen sayin that i had some hardware or software installed inproperly so i started looking and i found what looked to be a singe broken wire on my harddrives ide cable so i replaced that and started reformating but then it could not detected the ide drives so i found that the ide primary slot went bad so i hooked my harddrive and dvd rom to the secondary slot and it worked and let me reformat and now im haveing this problem hopes this helps you help me Thanks
Reason I asked about reformatting was just in case there was a clue for doing it which might have helped, odd it must have worked before and never showed up, nothings been altered in bios by chance?
