Default 1080i ?

ok, so i gave up on trying to get 2 displays working on my machine, so i went ahead and bought 1 BIG display, an LG 50' HDTV. heres where my problem lies, when the computer first registers the LG it automatically wants to go 1920x1080i as its native resolution, now that is what i am looking for, but here it is - all the text is very very unclean....somewhat pixelated and the applications are not clean either. the desktop looks absolutly great, HD is clean when it comes to images. I have connect the tower to the monitor via HDMI cable and have exhausted all the options available to me from Nview and Vista display settings. here is a little detail about my machine from DxDiag, any help at all trying to "Clear Up" this issue would be much appreciated.

Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6001) Service Pack 1 (6001.vistasp1_gdr.090302-1506)
BIOS: BIOS Date: 01/13/09 14:12:55 Ver: 08.00.14
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+ (2 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
Memory 3454MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 10.

here is what Monitor Assist Manager is telling me, im not a whiz with this but i know the data can help someone solve my problem..

This is the monitor - Real Time
