No POST on Compaq EVO D310

Having a bit of a problem. PC won't POST and I get 1 long, 2 short beeps.
According to this web site
http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/compaqbeep.htm it's a video problem.
However, when I drop in a PCI vid card and connect monitor to it I get 1
short, 2 long beeps which is, supposedly, a memory problem. Well, I
installed a new stick of RAM and I still get the same error code (1 short, 2
long) and no POST. I can't even get into the BIOS to disable onboard video,
thinking that's why the PCI vid card won't work. Any help out there?
