I have had this computer several years (since new) it will not play a game of any kind. They all stick, sound garbles and vidieo hangs, even games for small children, All windows programs and internet work fine with no problems.
pentium 4
1.5 Ghz
40.0 GB hard drive
768 mb ram
I have upgraded the sound card and vidieo cards to try to fix this problem, nothing works, any ideas?
My best guess is that the processor is too slow to handle the demanding
requirements of the games. If that is the case, unfortunately I cannot tell
from the meager info on the HP web site whether the processor is a newer Socket
478 or an older Socket 423. A faster processor might do the trick.
Also, look at the software setup. Newer games often require a certain version
of Microsoft Direct X, depending on which version of Windows is on the system.
The computer's memory seems to be adequate.
A Disk Cleanup followed by Disk Defragmentation (both in the System Tools under
Accessories) might help, too.
That's about all I can suggest... Ben Myers
