Default What kind of DVD burner?

Hi all,
What's the "best" DVD burner to get nowadays? Back in the day Liteon was
a pretty good one. Now I'm looking to get a new one. Is Liteon still OK
or has something else taken over?

The only thing I can guarantee you is that Plextor IS NOT the best
any longer, even though they're still the most expensive.

I've owned several burners over the past dozen years or so, including
a couple of Plextors. The Plextors were the only ones I had to replace
because they died. The rest were given graceful retirements and will
still put in a day's work when asked to.

Agreed, I miss the old days when the SCSI base plextor drives were the best.

I just upgraded my main system. I have a hdd and DVD burner on the IDE
port. The rest of the ports are SATA (my first motherboard with SATA
ports). The burner worked great on the old system but it sometimes don't
recognize discs when I put them in on the new machine. I have to open
then close the drive, sometimes multiple times for the disc to spin up
and get recognized.

I was thinking of getting a SATA DVD burner, but which one...

I've found little difference between brands,
go with whatever seems the best to you.

Check www.CDRinfo.com for info and reviews.
