yes, you can burn slower. On my version of nero after selecting the
tracks to burn and moving to the next option there is the boxes to put
title of disc etc and to the left a button which opens a window (I
assume on some versions this is at the bottom or elsewhere) and the
option to reduce speed as low as 4x is there. I think in older
versions this option appeared as part of the main window.
looked all over and could not find... maybe you use discs that allow 4X ??

as far as I am aware all discs are capable of lower burn speeds. I
actually didn't have a disc in the drive when I checked speeds allowed
but honestly I haven't had any problems reducing speeds ever on any
program, it's just a case of finding the option. I guess you're using
a different version of nero to me.
This webpage shows you what to do on one version, so maybe this is
like yours
From what I can find though the option should appear on the next page
after the one where you have selected the things you wish to write to
disc.
On checking google I noted a couple of other who complained that nero
was only giving them one or two options on speed. I have also seen it
mentioned that it's more than likely a firmware issue with your drive,
but don't quote me on that :O)

I was just thinking, if it's an audio cd you're doing have a look at
jet audio and see if it gives you better speed options. it's free :O)
