Repeated failure trying to burn audio CD -- help needed

The Computer: Compaq Presario, WindowsXP Home Version 2002 SP2, AMD
Sempron 3500+, 1.99 GHz, 1.4 GB RAM

The Burner: HP 740b Lightscribe +/- DVD Writer; I have created a Boot
CD and installed the firmware update ffrom it as per the HP website

I'm able to burn DVD's (both data and video) with no problem with my
DVD writer but have gone through about six fresh blank Imation CD's
trying to make an audio CD. I've tried using Nero and other burning
software without success.

I'm not too computer savvy and would appreciate if someone who's more
knowledgable than I could look over the following Nero burn failure
log, make some sense of it for me and suggest how I can get this to
work.

Try using different CDRs, Imation uses some pretty bad stuff. Alternately,
lower burn speed to 24x. The errors are consistant with a bad burn, but not
a certainty.

Also, you are converting MP3 to audio CD on the fly, which is an invitation
to trouble. Convert the files to .wav, then create the audio CD from that.
Nero will do the conversion for you. (Extras - encode files).

I erred in writing that the CD-R's were Imation brand -- they're
actually TDK. (I burn lots of data and video DVD's with Imation DVD-
R's with no problems, incidentally.)

Thanks for the suggestion. :-) I'm first going to try converting the
mp3's to wavs and then burning the audio disk. If that doesn't work,
I'll look for another brand of CD-R's.
