My CD/DVD won't burn?!

Hi there,

I have an Acer Aspire 1680 laptop. I have had it for three or so yers
now. It has a CD/DVD rom, write and read on both.

The problem I have is, when I try to burn any file, it runs for a few
minutes, seems to be writting, but then stops and says there was an
error, and the CD stays blank.

Any idea what could be wring with it? :/ It reads files fine, CDs and
DVDs work fine, I just have problems burning any tyoe of files with it
now.


It used to work before though, any ideas? Thanks!

The list of potential causes is long.

But the place to start is to figure out what changed on the system around
the time it quit working. Software, drivers, rootkits and other disc
protection schemes are all on the list.

It's also equally possible that the drive is FUBAR, or the media you are
using is bad.
