Default ISO ?

Am trying to prepare a memtest 86-3.4 iso file, which I guess is supposed to
be bootable. I run the .iso file through the burn program at lowest
available speed, 16X (2400KBs). I get a disk which win explorer shows as
memtest.iso. Contents if any of the iso aren't there; 'puter unable to see
that it must boot a program on the cd. How does the neophyte user proceed to
get a program such as this memory testor to do its thing? TIA, any
suggestions.

If you have a bootable iso file, you need to burn it to cd as an iso
file, not a data file. Your burning software may say burn an image or
some such thing.

Most burning software supports creating a bootable cd, some may require
either a bootable floppy or image of same. If you use a floppy you can
put the memtest program on that (as a normal executable). You need to
understand the various options available in your burning software.

| You burn the .iso as image, not as file:
| [Nero, Recorder, Burn Image]

Many thanks, smh, it's done.
I had at one time some bookmarks for sites that gave much info about data
burns, but they didn't survive a reformat of months or more ago. Could you
recommend a site or two?

I Should have added, I now have a folder, Boot, containing Boot.cat and
memtest.img. Before I blunder further, should I now burn the file
memtest.img, or will the disk boot as it is?

|
| You see the Boot folder with IsoBuster. You won't see it with Windows
| Explorer (as the boot folder is outside of ISO9660 file system).
|
| Just restart with the cd in a drive. It will commence testing without
| giving any message.

Thanks again, smh, ran cd this A.M., no prob. Good to have the links you
provided.
