Just finished a 100 spindle of Fuji Pro-Disc CDs. Started off crappy
getting error rates of around 3-4, and it got gradually worse,
ultimately seeing error rates of around 5-6. Then the last 10 on the
spindle yielded error rates of less than .5. I saw this once before,
although the crappy disks weren't as crappy. That time I could see
which discs were which, there was a difference in the reflectivity of
the edges such that I could look at the spindle and see a dividing
line beween the good and not so good disks. I don't remember which
reflectivity was "good".
So, I'm just curious about how common this might be. I've burned
less than 2,000 disks, so I'm thinking I may have been "blessed" to
have witnessed this twice in that spell.
a couple things to think about - is your burner's firmware up to date?
Newer CDs and DVDs have slightly different burn parameters than older
(ie, last yer's) CDs and DVDs. I had trouble with one particular brand
of DVD until I upgraded firmware, and now they burn error free.
