Is Easy Media Creator 9 backward compatible?

Will it read project lists and jewel case designs/disc labels created
with earlier versions (EZCD v3 through v7)? That is, will it allow me to
burn a disc by opening a cl3, cl4, cl5 file?

It isn't very compatible. It doesn't read the project and jewel case
files from earlier versions. If you browse the forums on Roxio's
support site you will see questions and complaints about it.
