Default DVD vs CD

Is there any difference in the size of the pit area for a CD burned
with a DVD burner vs a CD burner? In other words, is there any
advantage to burning the same CD on a CD burner because the burned area
is easier to read than a disk burned on a DVD burner?

Yes, there's a difference (DVD pits are smaller). No, there's no
advantage; error rates on a well-written disc are about the same. The
one advantage of CD that I'd cite is that some Plextors provide more
error information using PlexTools; unfortunately, since Plextor no
longer makes drives, you'd need to find an older, former top-of-the-line
model.
