Recent series of 9800 Pro not working for multiple monitors?
I've been using a 9800 Pro for a couple of years with a single monitor. My
wife has been using an AIW with two monitors. It recently died. I gave her
my 9800 Pro, which is working fine for her two-monitor system.
I bought a 2nd monitor and purchased another 9800 Pro. It didn't play with
two monitors. When I tried using the DVI output in digital mode, I got no
video out of either the VGA or the DVI port. I replaced the 9600 Pro with
another, but the same problem persists.
If I use the DVI output with a DVI --> VGA adapter, I get video out of both
ports, but the video from the DVI port is missing red, and the VGA output
causes about one pixel screen jitter.
One monitor is a Viewsonic 900. The second monitor is a Polyview.
I have the latest drivers installed (WinXP-Pro), but I'm still without a
solution. Is there a known issue that can be resolved, or...?

Take your problematic 9800 Pro and stick it in your wife's system. See if
there's any issues. That should not even require a driver uninstall and
reinstall.....just yank and switch. Does multimonitor work and no artifacts?
If yes then the problem is not your videocard. Report back from there.

Actually, I bought it for my other setup, which is where the issue was
noted.
In one machine with a VGA primary and a flat screen as a secondary, if I try
to use the DVI port, I get no VGA output. If I use the DVI --> VGA adapter,
it works. On the other machine, with two flat screens, if I try to use the
DVI port, I get no output from either port. If I use a DVI --> VGA
converter, I get jitter on the primary screen and no red in the secondary
monitor.
These symptoms are identical for the two new 9800 Pro boards I recently
purchased.

ATI brand. Radeon 9800 Pro 128Mb. Finding them on eBay.
Except for an improved heat sink, they look identical to my older board.
Full ATI markings and stickers.

The guy is about a mile from me. We met to make the exchange, and the board
was in new condition in a new sealed box.
