Default Problem with old ATI Rage pro driver and OpenGL?

I've downloaded the recommended driver for an old Rage Pro card from
the ATI site, wme-j5-30-1-b02.exe. But when I execute a program to
test its Opengl performance, I get "This program has performed an
illegal function etc" in module ATIO9XAE.DLL.

Anyone know what the solution is?

The solution is to get another gfx card. Really, the ATI Rage Pro was
already crap when it came out, and the drivers buggy like hell (and
never got completely fixed IIRC).

You are still using Win9x? Holy crap, decade-old OS...

I don't think OpenGL with the Rage Pro ever worked correctly:
