Blank Screen Compaq v2405us with ATI Xpress 200m

I've tried all the ATI drivers, reinstalled both Windows 2000 and XP.
Upgraded to Netframe 2.0, and all the service packs.
Machine will boot up to the Windows splash screen and then go
completely BLANK. Can bootup in SAFE mode, deinstall
drivers and machine works fine. It's a Compaq v2000 laptop (v2405us).


Ideas? (I'm out).

Laptop drivers such as these should be downloaded and installed directly
from the Compaq?hp site. there are differences. It's not uncommon for the
standard ATI drivers to not work for some laptops.
