asus 9550 or ati catalyst 8.6 drivers

I have an ASUS 9550 video card and am currently using the asus drivers
(latest ones). driver scanning programs tell me to upgrade to the latest
ati catalyst 8.6 drivers. Should I? I am a games too. Or should I try
another ati catalyst driver or stay with the asus drivers.
