I installed the CAT7.12 drivers from ATI I get nothing showing up in display
properties settings advanced that usually says click here for ATI CATYLST.
secondly I d/l the new directx10 but is still says I have 9c
I cannot under DXDIAG test for 3d direct draw or direct 3d just TEST
DIRECTDRAW
maybe I should get the drivers from asus? but I cant find the latest? any

It's difficult to tell just what exactly you're trying to ask here,
however...installing DX10 on a low end DX9.0a card is pointless. DX10 is
integral with Vista, and cannot be installed on any other OS, period. If
you have Vista, you already have DX10. Just a few general comments, however.
This is a botton end AGP card in the FX5200 league. Slow core, even slower
memory. You can have DX9.0c installed, but the card isn't a DX9.0c card.
Doom 3 gets single digit to low teen framerates on a 3.2 Ghz P4 test rig
with this card at 1024x768. Finally, Catalysts newer than 7.8 seem to cause
AGP cards to lose all 3D and Direct Draw ability. I sue the 7.5's on an
X1650 Pro AGP card in one of my systems and it works fine. Anything newer,
and the 3D engine is hosed.
so wots the latest cat drivers I can use for a 9550 video card? that still
gives me direct3d and open gl?

Like I said in the previous post, prior to 7.8 seem to be OK on most AGP
m/b's. Nforce2 chipsets seem to be the most affected. I've heard of some
people with issues with 7.6's but not many. Omega's latest are supposed to
work with AGP, but I don't know from personal experience if they do. I use
the 7.5's on my X1650Pro AGP in an Nforce2 board. Works fine.
I d/l the latest ASUS video catalyst drivers for the 9550 & they wrk fine,
but I am not sure to wot version of ATI they would be compared to 7.5 or 7.9

Omega's latest, based on Cat 7.10, work fine for me on 2 different AGP
cards, a X850XT PE and a X1950 Pro.
From what I've seen in the various forums, all that's needed to get the
latest drivers working with AGP cards, is to replace ati3duag.dll with the
one from the 7.7 drivers.
