Default Vista on my P4C800 Deluxe

I tried to load Vista on my P4C800 Deluxe today, but Vista has no
drivers for my network, LAN or RAID controller (which are all
onbaord).

The network and LAN are most important for me. Can anyone help?

Rommel

It stands to reason that if Asus dont have them no one else will

From what I have read elsewhere Vista gets updated drivers for your devices
(if available) from the update site during instal.
Not much help though if your ethernet isn't recognised.
Perhaps you could try this Marvell Yukon driver.

I've also heard the Marvel generic driver will work but haven't tried it.
Still using XP happily.

Hi,

Everything work perfectly for me. Vista home premium + P4C800 (promise
driver downloaded from promise.com).

When I loaded Vista the network connection just wasn't working - even
the recommended Marvel generic driver (see above) isn't recognised by
Vista as being an appropriate driver. Did you perhaps do an upgrade
instead of a clean install? I guess this way you could update the
drivers prior to installing Vista.

Could you let me have a copy of your drivers (easily)?

With that older motherboard, it will be a while, if ever, that Asus writes
Vista drivers for it.

For the network interface chip, Asus doesn't write the driver.
In this case, if anyone is going to make a driver for the 3C940,
it will be Marvell.

If you look in the INF file, you can see why the generic driver might
not be accepted. You'd have to compare the generic driver, to some
of the old drivers from the Asus site for your board, for older
OSes.

For example, a line like this in the generic driver package INF:

%Yukon-1700_1.DeviceDesc% = SLYukCopGig_01.ndi, PCI\VEN_10B7&DEV_1700&SUBSYS_001010B7

would need the "&SUBSYS_001010B7" removed at the end of the line, so
that the driver would match and install for any 10B7:1700 chip it finds.

This is from the "pci.ids" file from sourceforge. It lists the vendor,
device, and subsystem codes for PCI devices. Not all devices are included,
but this is a good sampling. The Asus SUBSYS code is 1043, which is what
would be used for their motherboards. The 80eb identifies the motherboard.
Removing the SUBSYS at the end of the above line, makes the driver match
any instance of 10B7:1700 it finds.

*******
10b7 3Com Corporation
0001 3c985 1000BaseSX (SX/TX)
0013 AR5212 802.11abg NIC (3CRDAG675)
10b7 2031 3CRDAG675 11a/b/g Wireless PCI Adapter
0910 3C910-A01
1006 MINI PCI type 3B Data Fax Modem
1007 Mini PCI 56k Winmodem
10b7 615b Mini PCI 56K Modem
10b7 615c Mini PCI 56K Modem
1201 3c982-TXM 10/100baseTX Dual Port A [Hydra]
1202 3c982-TXM 10/100baseTX Dual Port B [Hydra]
1700 3c940 10/100/1000Base-T [Marvell]
1043 80eb A7V600/P4P800/K8V motherboard <---------
10b7 0010 3C940 Gigabit LOM Ethernet Adapter
10b7 0020 3C941 Gigabit LOM Ethernet Adapter
147b 1407 KV8-MAX3 motherboard
*******

If you compare the INF on the old drivers you can find on the
Asus download page, then the 001010B7 SUBSYS is appropriate for the
SLYukCopGig_01.ndi part. The "SLYukCopGig_01.ndi" seems appropriate
for "Single Link, Copper".

So if the Vista install is a clean install, and you have nothing to use,
modify the generic driver via changing the INF. And if Vista complains
because it doesn't like a line without a SUBSYS in it, then find out what
SUBSYS the motherboard is claiming, with a tool like Everest (PCI Devices).

For example, in this thread, they suggest the following be used at
the end of the line. It seems the 80EB might be used for several
motherboards.

" PCI\VEN_10B7&DEV_1700&SUBSYS_80EB1043 "

I currently have the same problem. I did not tried yet (will do so
tonight at home) but it seems that following link should allow you to
download the driver compatible with P4C800 and vista

http://www.clubic.com/telecharger-pi...00-deluxe.html
==> Intel INF update utility 8.3.0.1013

Meanwhile, if you found any other solutions, I would be pleased to get
your update !
