Default P4S800 (and dimilar) DDR configurations / slots?

While check out the P4.800... series (see my other post on "Recommend
a mobo") I ran into this at the Asus site on the P4S800:

"DDR400 (PC3200), the latest and fastest DDR memory standard, supports
bandwidth up to 3.2GB/s to provide enhanced system performance. (Note:
PC2100/PC1600 up to 3 DIMMs; PC3200/PC2700 up to 2 DIMMs; 1GB
PC3200/2700 with 32 DDR chips up to 1 DIMM only)"

Does this mean that I would be restricted to using just one 1GB chip
in this board? Or is the "1GB PC3200/2700 with 32 DDR chips up to 1
DIMM only)" an odd chip that I'm not likely to run into?

I know little about DDR... but I get the feeling this is like the old
SDRAM high/low density issue :-)

Thanks,

You wouldnt want the very antiquated SIS chipset with the P4S800.

You want an P4P800 Deluxe or the P4C800E Deluxe ,Both intel chipsets

I assume from your reply that this isn't something you have to watch
for at all on the newer chip sets... it's an old early design issue ?

Thanks,

Thats what i was getting at. That SIS chipset that the P4S800 motherboard was
only able to handle only a certain amount of Ram at certain speeds. Pc3200 was
new when that board came out and the support wasnt robust with that chipset. I
have a similar limitation with an old P4R800 board i have laying around.
