Yes, but not as much as increasing RAM from (say) 2GB to 3GB,
unless the application software you use is capable of using all 4 cores
properly. Most isn't.
The quad core is only faster if you are running more than 2 simultaneous
applications, OR you are running an advanced program such as Photoshop which
is designed to use up to four cores at once.

I think Intel claims a 5% improvement for the Quad Core over the Dual Core.
It's better for more calculation intensive operations like multi-media.
OTOH, some people have said it takes time before more applications and games
are written to take advantage of the add'l cores?
