Default Doesn´t work : P4B266 and P4B 3,06Ghz ( SL6PG )

I´m aware of that there´s no official FSB533 CPU support for this
motherboard. No, I don´t just wanna replace this motherboard.. ;-)

I´s lucky to get hold of this rare CPU. I tried to replace the old CPU P4B
2.4 ghz/533/512 witch worked fine for years with this one: P4 3,06 HT
533/512 ( SL6PG )

Now the PC is very slow, always working on some _known_ processes, no virus
or malware, for sure.

The PC is very slow - memory benchmarks / CPU frequency is ok. Even when the
CPU is almost ideling ( happens rarely ) all data transfer is slow.

I did some research on this subject and found out that there prob. are
several reasons for this misbehaviour.

A frech site is talking about some missing MOSFETS needed on the P4B266 or
the chipset in general.

Another site says it´s something missing in my windows installation.

It must have something to do with the Hyper-Threading (HT) Technology, no ?

I´m just courious. Can somebody pls point me in a direction here ?

Have you tried doing a repair install to see if it will fix the problem?

No because this would prob. take me a year or two at this speed.

If it is running benchmarks correctly than the problem is not the speed
of the hardware. A repair install runs as a single task so should not
be affected by any other programs you might normally have running.
