Default Does EZ Flash 2 work to a USB thumb drive for you?

Just curious if I have a P5E setting wrong somewhere.

I have 2 USB flash thumb drives as well as 2 more USB hard drives. When I
enter the BIOS EZ Flash 2, it sees my A, C, and D drives (all SATA
partitions) but not a single one of my 4 USB drives.

Does the BOIS EZ Flash 2 work with a flash drive for anyone else?

Bruce.

I don't have any experience with USB harddrives.
When I enter the EZ Flash BIOS utility the only drives that show up are my
thumb drives.
For me A: is the thumb drive that I use to load the new BIOS
and C: is an internally installed thumb drive dedicated to Ready Boost
If I stick another thumb drive in it becomes B:
To navigate amongst fields in the utility use the tab and arrow keys.

I have a USB CF/SD/MMC card reader, and have used it with ezflash2, I
had to ensure the memeory card was in the PC at the time it was booted,
so that ezflash2 would see the file on the memory card, inserting the
car between boot and starting ezflash2 wasn't good enough.

Interesting! I have a reader so I gave that a try with an SD card. Sure
enough, it recognized it and displayed the root directory. But if I tried
to go a directory deeper, it just hung forever "loading directory".

All total it showed 6 drive letters, A: though F:. After rebooting I tried
A: with a floppy in the drive and it just hung without even trying to access
the floppy.

When I watch the BIOS boot messages, that flash by almost too fast to read,
it is seeing and recognizing several USB drives, but the flasher just hangs
if I select one.

So it occurred to me that I might have some other USB device ******* it up.
I have a card reader, 2 USB drives, a USB thumb drive, a couple of printers,
and an 8 port USB hub. So I disconnected everything but the thumb drive and
bingo, it works now! And as a bonus, the A: drive works now too, though
it's not big enough for a ROM file.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! Something in my numerous USB
devices is confusing the flash program, but disconnecting everything but the
thumb drive works.

Bruce.
