Is there any bios for the A7n8x-deluxe that can ID the mobile cpu when
overclocked? Or does anyone have recommendations for the best bios to
utilize this chip?
I recently stuck a 2500+ mobile on the board and though it's supposed to be
unlocked, a lot of clock settings won't even boot no matter what voltage is
used. It surprised me to find it seems to run fine at 12x 200 at stock
desktop voltage of 1.65 but 11x200 or 10x200, it won't even boot.

CPUID would pull the info you want..
If it boots at 12x200 then what's the problem? Even at 1.65v and 12x200 it's
probably running cooler than a 3200+ with the same settings. You should
check to see if there is a bios update that would support what your asking
for, But if you can set the fsb to 200 and the system starts, then I think
that's pretty good (as for most people, it would start at like 5*100 I
think)

I was just trying to figure out why it won't run at all in some settings.
It's a 2500+ mobile meant to run at 133 bus but won't even boot at the
settings for my old 2400+ which was also 133. Suddenly I bump it way up
and it's fine.
I typoed in my original post. It runs fine at 11x200 which is the default
settings for the 3200+. It runs too hot at that speed in the hot summer
weather. It won't boot at all at say 10x200 which is what seems strange to
me.

IIRC, when I had the same Mobo/CPU as you 10x200 was a no go for me
too. I ran with 10.5x just fine. Never found a BIOS that ID the chip
at start-up but didn't worry about it either. Replaced the stock HSF
with a manually variable one from Thermaltake. Ran mostly in the low to
mid 40's and topped at 55 with Prime 95's Torture Test.
