Default Asus's Limited Vista Collection

I seen a list of motherboards Asus has created Vista drivers for. It
is a pretty long list but it doesn't have my board, the A8N32-SLI. I
just bought this board a week ago for $170. It isn't a discontnued or
obsolete board!

How can Asus not supply drivers for the current OS for boards it is
actively selling? I suppose you could ask why I would be so stupid as
to buy a board not supported. I guess I messed up.

Any ideas if this "list" is just their initial offering with more to
come? Somebody give me some hope!

Frank

Might well be that Asus thinks vista is like whipping a dead horse and is in
no hurry to waste time supporting it. BUT then this is me and I hate vista.
Micro**** believes they can shove any ole junk software down the throat of
the computer world and people will just accept it. When was the last time
they released ANYTHING that was not buggy as hell? Did they ever?
They just want to make as much as they can off people like you and me. If no
one would buy it they would have something else right away to take it's
place so they can keep their market share alive.

Good luck on getting your drivers, but don't hold your breath.

My understanding is the "Vista" boards have a TPM connecter for TPM
support. See:

http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system...PM_secure.mspx

I have run Vista 32 RC3 on a A8N32 SLI Deluxe. It can be done, you
just have to chase around for the drivers.

In what way does Vista need drivers for this m.b? they have released a new
bios you might want to check that out.

You need drivers for everything you do :/

I would have hoped that the winxp drivers would be good enough.....

motherboard mfgr's tend to take a while on new drivers, I think that's
because the chipset companys supply to them and then they do a LOT of
testing. So the best thing to do is go to the chipset site and download
their newest drivers.. Nv is generally good about the drviers they list
even tho you might find some that dont work well.

Two things:

1. Check NVIDIA and see if they have Vista drivers for your motherboard's
chipset.

2. The needed drivers are probably on the Vista installation media. I have
Vista running on an old NF2 (A7N8X-Deluxe) motherboard and on a new M2N-E
(NF 570). Aside from a RAID driver for the old NF2 board (easily found),
everything needed was on the Vista DVD. Both running fine.

Actually this is an obsolete board as its a socket 939. They have no reason
to write Vista drivers for a board that is 2 generations behind.

I don't belive Asus have any drivers for this board at all, not in the
past either. The chipset-drivers are from Nvidia, and that also
includes one of the NIC-drivers. I will guess the sound is ADI or
Realtek, and the 2nd NIC might also be Realtek. I will guess Nvidia,
Realtek etc. have their drivers out.

But, is there anything that don't work with the drivers included in
Vista? I have only installed Vista to one older system with a
nF4-based MB (EPoX), and I seem to remember that all the drivers I
needed was included....
