Hello. I have a bios password on my Travelmate 2500 and I want to
remove it. If I take the battery out, will that work? How long do I
have to keep it out. I saw a sw5 switch? Can I reset it with that
switch?

Off hand.. not knowing specifically about a Travel mate.. NO.
I believe that information is held with power from the CMOS battery..
which is about the size of a watch battery and likely soldered into
the mother board.
It is the same source that keeps your clock time.. even though you
have removed the battery..
To remove the BIOS password you need to do it from within the BIOS
setup.. you "just" need to know the old one... Which from the sound of
it you do not have..
IF.... you can convince the OEM of that Travel mate that you are the
rightful owner they... may... provide you with an administrative
generic password that will allow a reset..
