Thoroughly cheesed off with DVD Region encoding, is there an

External USB Powered DVD Writer Region Free

unit?

I get some people telling me that I just need to download a patch from
rpc1, but I know from bitter experience that it won't work with all
devices, most of which are hardware rpc2 encoded.

I heard rumors that there is and I had been searching for some time
for that before, but as I never found one I just bought one DVD RAM
from LITE ON and installed the Slysoft anydvd in my PC and the region
problem was solved.

I can't remember the rpc1 and rpc2 thing.. but that forum was useful..
I would be suprised if you couldn't get a drive that was "rpc1
encoded"..
Anyhow..

I would not buy a USB drive - EVER!

You can plug an internal drive into USB anyway! (with a little
adaptor)

You buy an internal drive, and a USB-IDE(or USB-SATA) adaptor
Or, if you need a fan, e.g. if it is a hard drive that wil be used for
long periods and you desperately need to cool it well.
then you buy the internal drive(IDE or SATA), with a USB enclosure.
(an enclosure is a USB-IDE adaptor, a case, and a fan)

(note- so-called USB-SATA adaptors prob tend to do USB-IDE too).

I doubt you even need an enclosure for a CD/DVD drive. They don't get
that hot.

I use HDDs and CD drives without an enclosure..

It is very cheap to do..
Internal drives are cheap. So it is a good long term solution..

Why? do you have issues with USB connected DVD-RAM player?
So far I have none...I can play/burn DVD, and CDS perfectly...
Maybe you did not have an external powersource for such and you just
use the juice from the USB SLOT? .,,.It won't work that way...

Unless you have a desktop where you can have extra bays to place in
multiple DVD player/writer( as you wish) but if you have only a
laptop that can be verydifficult .

Unless you uninstall/remove the inbuilt faulty DVD-RW in the slot and
replace it with a new one...
