I have a copy of Windows XP Pro, which I have been running on my machine for
the past 3 or so years - I already have a valid genuine Win XP Pro license. I
am thinking of reinstalling the OS as it is not working right. Now, in this
situation, is it possible to download Win XP Pro complete with most of the
updates and SP2? There are two reasons I want to do this - first, my
installation CD is somewhat scratched and beat up, so I am not sure if that
has anything to do with my OS not working right after I reinstalled it on the
same machine. Secondly, the updating process takes too long, so it would be
nice if I am installing the updated version directly.

Slipstream SP2 and most of the updates and burn yourself a new copy. That
is the most reliable method. Applications like nLite can help you
accomplish this with little technical knowledge required.
