Unhappy Random hangs/freezes? Audio/video same IRQ?

Unfortunately, I have a very hard problem to troubleshoot because it can be most anything, hopefully, someone will have and idea of what's going on here.

My PC at will hang/freeze at random times. I may be able to go an entire sitting without it happening or it may freeze after warm up. Each time though I am having sound play and/or something graphical going. This problem I believe began when I installed a PCI sound card to replace the on board audio. Now, I disabled the on board audio in the BIOS and deleted the on board audio drivers. Searching for hardware conflicts in the device manager I found none. However, I do notice that my audio card and my video card are on the same IRQ, IRQ17. Is this a problem? What actually happens is that the sound will buzz for a quick second and the screen is unresponsive. The number lock key may go off and on a few times but will eventually stay on. The caps lock key is unresponsive and so is the mouse. All of this forces a hard reboot. I thought about disabling ACPI but I would have to un-install/reinstall Windows.

Please help because this is the most frustrating PC problem I've ever faced. Thank you.

Here are my PC specs:

1. WinXP SP2
2. MSI K9N SLI Platinum Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard

6. G.SKILL 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory Model F2-6400PHU1-1GBNR X 4
7. SIIG IC-510012 5.1 Channels 16-bit PCI Interface SoundWave 5.1 PCI Surround Sound Card

One thing you could do is to run it without the sound card.... just to see how it goes.

I've no idea what's going on with your computer, but aren't there more than one set of duplicates in that screenshot? I know for certain that the IRQs shouldn't be the same for both the sound card and the graphics card (the OS will undoubtedly confuse the interrupt handlers), but I'm not sure if there is a way to change the assigned IRQ.

Good luck...
