I've got an Abit AS8-V mb with a P4 3.0 ghz 800 fsb cpu and 1 gb stick 184 pin corsair DDR 400 sytem memory. However, everytime I boot up, I get a POST code of "AF", followed by an error beep. I tried booting with out the RAM and it gives a POST of "EO" which I take to be a "no memory found" type of error. Basically what I'm getting at is that I'm reasonably certain the POST code is referring to a memory error problem, but the manuals I have and have found online make no such reference to any "AF" POST code. Any help would be much appreciated.

The list of Abit POST codes is here http://fae.abit.com.tw/eng/faq/qa/2000/2000100341.htm but AF or E0 are nor in there :? ... odd ... Here is an error beeps codes list just in case you need them http://fae.abit.com.tw/eng/faq/qa/2000/2000100340.htm, 1 beep is "DRAM refresh is not working"

Yeah, I looked over the POST code listing in the manual many times over and didn't find anything. However, I did come to a solution. It just involved buying different memory. Apparently the AS8-V mobo is very picky when it comes to RAM. Also, for Golyath, make sure that the RAM you have is compatible with the mobo. I wound up using 2 Corsair 512mb DDR400, non ECC, unbuffered sticks of 184 pin RAM. Hope that helps you get your PC up and running.

I have the same problem as well. However, my story goes a little diffrent from the rest of yours. I have had my computer since December of last year. I have a Abit AA8-3rd Eye motherboard with a Lga socket 775. I have a Pentium 4 3.6 ghz processor. I also have 256mb for RAM. Now, my computer has been working up until now. I haven't been using it much, it just sits in my basement on my desk. It hasn't gotten wet or anything. Now, I took out the RAM and proceeded to boot the computer and I got the E0 code too. I replaced the RAM and booted again, still not posting. Instead, I get the AF code. I too have looked in my manual for the AF code and there is nothing about it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

i'm taking it that the RAM you put back in is the RAM you were previously using? if it is, and your computer was working before you removed the RAM, i recommend clearing your CMOS memory. it has a tendency to get corrupted if you take out / replace RAM and attempt to boot. if that doesn't work, try a different stick of DDR2 533 (also clear CMOS again). hope that helps

my story is a little different.....I am using a AG8 instead of AS8....and I was putting it together today...when first I had an E0 code....but that was caused by my memory being in the wrong spot....and now I am having a problem with the AF code.....What does this mean??....cause for some reason my monitor doesn't want to display anything?? What is happening? :?:

For those having the "AF" error code problem. As far as I can tell, it is related to memory. In my case, it was the wrong memory for my mobo. Everyone who runs across this problem should double check their memory specs against the mobo reqs. for system memory.
